Great comment Guy, totally agree. I have grown the most in my life from times spent alone meditating and reflecting upon my life and looking inwards for the answers.

With each article I hope to trigger something inside of the reader that will force them to look deep within themselves. To feel complete doesn't come self improvement and adding to yourself but by sifting through all those painful memories to discover the person you have been all along.

I guess that is where the real quest lies...

"Who Am I?"

Self enquiry is the strongest form of meditation IMO.
I spent quite a bit of time with this question, both intellectually as well as in meditation.
The only answer is a silent vastness that comes about when attention is focused inwards. Its an experience and no intellectual definition really fits.

I believe my entire personality is just layers of different 'characters' and habitualness behavioral patterns. All of which I am not.

I love how immersing yourself into anything will ultimately bring you back to yourself whether it is pick-up or basket weaving!

Thanks a lot Alan for the love. Getting good with women and life is not about becoming something else but re-discovering your true self.

Most people play characters all day, every day of their lives. They play the shy character or the tough guy character. They play the self deprecating character. All of these characters aren't who you are but who you are choosing to be in that moment. Because it's a choice to become those things you can easily (or not so easily) choose to become who you are underneath all of it.

I can totally relate to the whole dream of being an entertainer, I acctually found this page by typing live to entertain into google at random. It's incredible when you can get that vibe going whether it's with just one person or a whole group and there hanging onto your every word because they know whatever your gonna say will be funny, witty and entertaining...I also know that once the entertaining is over and I'm home by myself I feel empty and lost to who it is I really am. It's ironic that I've found the more I seek aproval for people to find me entertaining the less entertaining I am...unless they are entertained from my lameness. When on the other hand I don't care what people think and say whatever I want because I know that what I have to say is entertaining...people love me for it, they follow me because I'm fun to be around and they want my approval instead! I find the people who don't like my real humour are the kind of upstuck people that I don't want to be around anyway so if anything it helps to repel boring people by just doing and saying what I want...I guess that's a way of reframing the whole thing that makes you empowered instead of feeling vunreable to peoples negative reactions...Alex your advice about not becoming a character really struck me because that's exactly what I've started to become: a bunch of characters shielding a weak self rather than just myself being my true strong self, so thankyou for getting to the real heart of the matter and I'm gonna look through more of your posts because I can see you've been through this journey and you've come out as a genuinely stronger person with a lot of golden wisdom to share!
